Alan Wake fansite BrightFalls claims to have received a statement from the developers, which reads:

Thank you for your continued interest in Alan Wake. It is accurate that we are currently working exclusively on the Xbox360 version of Alan Wake. PC plans are currently open, and therefore it’s safe to say that at least a simultaneous launch with the Xbox version will not happen at this late stage. Remedy has a deep heritage in PC gaming and would love to see a PC version available to its PC followers, ultimately however this decision lies with our publisher.

If this statement did indeed come from Remedy – and we’re looking into that – it’s not good news for PC users looking forward to the game, as it suggests that even if the game does grace the system, it’ll be late.

Then again, after Halo and Gears of War, PC users are getting used to this kind of treatment from Microsoft.

The info also indicates the Storm 2 is officially the BlackBerry 9550, complete with this:

- 3.2 megapixel camera
- 360×480 resolution capacitive screen

We had originally thought the Storm 2—er 9550—was going to arrive in June at Verizon, maybe, but that obviously didn’t happen. Shall we try “sometime in July” on for size?

Well, not much, really. Nikkei is a very solid source, definitely not prone to tossing plausible ideas around as actual reports. And of course, it’s been such a persistent rumor because it makes so much sense: Sony is an important player in both the cellphone (with Sony Ericsson) and gaming worlds, though Sony Ericsson has been struggling in recent years. Now that Capcom and Square Enix are developing games for the iPhone platform, it’s just about time for Sony to jump into the game and play a little catch-up.

The rumor itself is very vague: Nikkei says it will directly compete with the iPhone, and that a project team was set up last July to start working on the console/phone hybrid. So basically, it’s the same rumor we’ve been hearing for years, except this time from a reliable source. Whether it’s got any truth to it remains to be seen. Note: The above image is a mockup.
